History of The Honor Oak Pub

According to legend, on the 1st May 1602, Elizabeth I picnicked with Sir Richard Bulkeley of Beaumaris in the Lewisham area by an oak tree at the summit of a hill. The tree came to be known as the Oak of Honor. The name for the area stuck around, and our pub has proudly boasted this title for many years.

Our local, nestled between Forest Hill and Honor Oak…

The Honor Oak opened in 1865 as the St Germain’s Tavern. We have been happily serving the residents of Honor Oak and Forest Hill for over 150 years and we are looking forward to the next 150.

Bringing together everything the South East of London has to offer in all its diversity and creativity, the Honor Oak offers a pub for the whole community to enjoy.
